Workington continued preprations for the new season with a trip to Northern League Champions Dunston Federation Brewery. In a repeat of the same fixture at Borough Park 12 months earlier Workington again slipped to defeat against the North East outfit.

Alex Benjamin, scored what was to be the only goal of the game in the 37th minute for the home side as Both Dunston and Workington squanderred several chances. Workington made a better fist of the second half but still failed to find the net, though Hewson and Hopper both went close on occasions.

Results at this stage of the season are not the be all and end all but Cassidy will expect more from his side in their teams next Freindly at home to Premiership outfit Blackburn Rovers.
