Daniel Kirkup headed the only goal of the game, and his first for the club, on 56 minutes from Craig Johnston's corner. Matthew Berkeley then hit the post, Johnston was inches wide with a clever free kick and Andrew Hardman put a low shot just past the post as reds searched for a killer 2nd goal.

Reds finish their season at Harrogate on Saturday.

Goal Fest at the New Bucks Head

5/1/08
Workington made their first visit to the New Bucks Head to face in form AFC Telford. In the end Reds over the 90 minutes should have taken all three points but missed several chances to kill the game off at 3-2. But Manager Darren Edmondson was more than happy with a point.

There were few chances early on, from an Anthony corner Alan Gray fired well over the bar from 6 yards. Reds took the lead on 21 minutes, Tony Hopper reacted to a high ball in the box, he managed to direct it towards Matthew Berkeley who looped a header over the Telford Keeper from 6 yards.

on 30 minutes Phil McKluckie tried to beat a telford player in his own half and was robbed, neither may nor mckluckie was able to recover as Lewis steamed to the by line and pulled it back for Forsdick to score from 4 yards out.

Reds didnt let their heads go down and were soon back in front, on 36 minutes a superb diving header from Tony Hopper intercepted a Telford long ball, the ball broke to the edge of the telford box. the Telford keeper spilled it and Matthew Berkeley played it infield to Johnny Wright who fired it home from 8 yards out.

Telford struggled to create clear cut chances but with the game already into 3 minutes of injury time at the end of the 1st half the home side equalised. A ball across the face of the box went straight to Steve Jagielka who fired a right foot volley from 25 yards over Adam Collin, it was a superb strike.

Half Time AFC Telford 2-2 Workington

In the Second Half Reds almost went ahead straight away, a Craig Johnston Long throw missed everyone but Graham Anthony arriving late headed the ball straight at the keeper from 5 yards out. Johnny Wright also had a decent chance but it was Craig Johnston who put reds back in front on the hour turning home a loose ball in the box from Graham Anthony's free kick. Reds defended well and really should have killed the game off with Berkeley, Wright and Anthony guilty of some poor finishing.

Telford always looked dangerous and they equalised with ten minutes to go, it was a superb counter attack, Matthew Berkeley had a claim for a penalty turned down and a quick break down the left for Telford resulted in a tap in for Moore from a couple of yards as the Reds failed to get back quickly enough.

Telford looked the most likely to win it in the last few minutes but Reds held on.
